Northern California Largest Stepper’s Contest!

CONTEST CATEGORIES, RULES & PRELIMINARY DATES!

 

This is an Original Chicago Style Stepper’s contest. The preliminaries and the finals will be judged the same. Only the top scores will be selected. There will only be one date for each category of the preliminaries. The original old rules will apply and will remain the same for all categories. Rules are as follows but, there may be additions. If rules are added, contestants will be notified at the beginning of the preliminary and/or the finals. Remember, this is the World’s Largest Steppers Contest. It is designed to showcase only the best of the best. Only the best that compete will make it to the big stage. Who’s really the best?

 

Categories

  1. Appearance: Dress to impress from head to toe. Come steppers sharp!
  2. Originality: Style quality of being original
  3. Synchronization: Being in synch with your partner
  4. Showmanship: A sense or knack for dramatically effective presentation
  5. Footwork: to control the movement of the feet in a special manner with fanciness

Rules

Dance - please be creative, but keep the integrity of the dance

No splits
No props (If you think it might be a prop, it most likely is) glitter, blind folds, canes, glasses, etc…
No dancing on your knees or on the floor
No free style dancing (ATL stump, bank head bounce, running man, etc.) Anything that does not look like original stepping, the contestant will be disqualified. This is original style stepping.
One foot must be on the floor at all times
No picking women up off the floor or lifting them in the air
No kicking your legs over your partner’s head
No putting your leg on partner’s shoulders
No other body parts should be on the floor besides your feet

Appearance

Please dress appropriately, meaning stepper’s sharp (do not loose points for style of dress during your preliminary performance.
Appearance for the preliminaries will be judged the same as it will be for the finals.

Qualifications

Contestants can not change partners under any circumstances.
Contestants must dance with their qualifying partner.
The lead dancer must meet the age requirements in order to qualify.
Each contestant can only dance once in original category.
If you dance in original category, you can dance in trio.

Music

Contestants will dance to music chosen by the DJ for both the preliminaries.
Contestants will be allowed to make music selections lasting 3 minutes for the finals.
Contestants will dance for a total of 3 minutes.
One couple will dance at a time.

Doors open at 6pm Contestant check in between 7pm & 8pm
