LEE (MACDADDY) JAMES BLUES BAND

Lee James was born and raised in the midst of the magical melting pot of Louisiana. He

picked up the guitar at 13 and was playing gigs in small town, smoke-filled bars by the time he was 16. From that point on it became all about the music and how it made him feel- and how he could make others feel deep into their souls through his own singing and playing. At age 18(1960) Lee joined the navy and played blues and R& B in the orient.

After three years in the Navy, Lee moved to the Bay Area where he formed Lee James & The Groov-ins. Lee and the Groov-ins played every gig they could book in the bay area. By 1970 it was time for Lee to re-up on his "Southerness", so Lee made multiple visit back to New Orleans Louisiana where he gig with several prominent bands. (Donnie Williams, Charles James etc).

Lee finally decided to 'get off the bus and stay awhile", by comming back to the Bay area to play local gigs, put his own band together, and have a fun doing what he loves.

Lee has emerged from his journey so far to find that it's time to do his own "Thang" -- and it's about time! If his incredibly soulful guitar playing doesn't give you the goose bumps, hi unmistakably talented and unique voice will. Throw that in with page after page of skillfully penned rockin' blues songs and his southern charm -- and you have Lee (blues macdaddy) James, a true and consummate player and showman.
